QO is a web app installed by simply opening this webpage. A single file containing all text, code, and resources will be downloaded and saved in your browser cache. No need for internet connections once the Quick Oats app is installed and added to your home screen. Updates will be automatically installed when refreshing the browser twice.
Android: tap the three ... in the upper right corner of your screen, then tap "Add to Home screen". In the Create shortcut pop-up backspace to delete the URL and type: "QO" then tap "Add".
iOS: tap the box-up arrow icon at the top or bottom of your screen, scroll down to "Add to Home Screen", tap it and enter "QO" then tap "Add".
Tap any book button to display the Book Menu and a list of chapters for the selected book. If the book only has one chapter, the chapter's text displays immediately.

Tap a verse in QO to selected it.
Now the Hebrew/Greek and color buttons are active.
Five
Color buttons allow verse highlighting which is saved but may be later changed or removed (tap the same color button).
Add a
Note to a selected verse by double-tapping it. Once the note is saved, the text is colored red to indicate a note is present. Select the verse and double-tap to open the note and edit if desired.
A
Hebrew or
Greek button will be displayed on the left depending on which testament the open book is from. Tap it and the Hebrew or Greek interlinear text will appear with a blue Strongs number above each word. Tap a number to display the Strongs definition with a
List All button that shows all occurances of that word in Scripture. Tap the
Hebrew or
Greek button to remove the interlinear window.
The
SET button displays a row of buttons for:
font style (serif or non-serif)
font size adjusted up and down buttons
VOICES toggles Text-to-Speech choices
TEXT-TO-SPEECH
Tap
VOICES to display the list of available voices. Tap each one to test and select a suitable voice and display the blue voice name.
Tap
HEAR to begin listening with this voice at the currently selected verse. The Book and chapter number will appear at the top of the screen. The
LOOP and
CONT buttons allow Looping the same chapter or Continuous advancing to the next chapter. Each verse will be advanced with the current reference in blue at the top of the screen and spoken using the currently selected voice, rate and pitch settings. Suspend speech by tapping the chapter reference at the top of the screen.
SEARCHING
At the main book selection screen, you can search through the entire Bible by tapping the large
? button at the top. Enter your search word or phrase and tap the "Search" bar.
If nothing is found for your search, it will simply disappear. Otherwise, search findings will appear in a list in the lower half of the screen with the first finding location appearing with its surrounding verses in the upper half. Text matching your search string will appear in bold text. Tap any finding in the list to display its text.
Two-term Searches can be performed by separating the two terms with a comma (,). For example, entering "faith,works" will find 16 occurences with samples with each reference displaying each term in bold.
SAVING SEARCHES
A search list can be saved by tapping the SAVE button which will confirm by displaying
SAVED and enabling the
MARK button. Now favorite findings can be individually marked in yellow for future reference. Tap a yellow line to select it and then tap the MARK button to remove the marking.
DELETING SEARCHES
Tap the
DEL button then tap the confirming
DELETE button.
Saved searches may be accessed by tapping the "FIND" button on the main screen.
NOTES
Double-tap any verse to view or add a note with cross-references! Double-tapping a verse without a saved note will show a blank editing screen displaying the verse reference. Compose your note and tap SAVE.
Your saved note will be displayed as it will appear the next time it is viewed.
Tap CLOSE to return or EDIT to correct or continue editing.
CROSS-REFERENCES can be added by entering the verse reference in lowercase characters and using a period (.) instead of a colon (:) to separate chapter from verse and preceeded and followed by a space. For example, " gen1.1 " or " 1co8.6 ". Now tap SAVE and the note will appear with the reference highlighted in blue. Tap it and the reference will appear at the top of the screen.
Or you can type "xx" where you want the cross-reference to appear, save the note, then locate the verse to be referenced and tap to select it. Then tap
Oat to show the Bible Books screen and tap the pink
? bar. Tap the Note reference button to open the note and tap the selected verse reference in the light blue button. The xx will be replaced with the reference and highlighted.
There is no limit to how many cross-references may be added to a note. The text of the verse with a note will now appear in red. Double-tap the verse to display the note. Tap any highlighted reference and the verse text and reference will appear.
SEARCHING NOTES
On the main screen, tap the Version button in the upper right corner. Tap NOTES to list all notes created in both Bible verses and Advent sentences. Tap a blue reference to display and read the note or edit and save it.
SCRIPTURE SONGS
Over 200 scripture songs may be accessed from within Quick Oats. They will appear as
SONG at the end of any verse associated with a song. When these are encountered, tap the blue
S button on the color menu to display the lyrics with controls to toggle between
TRACK and
VOCAL and to play (
GO) or pause (
NO).
Notes when added will be displayed below the lyrics or may be added by tapping the
EDIT button.
RESETTING DATA
Tapping the CLEAR ALL button twice
will remove all:
Highlighting colors
Notes
for Quick Oat verses, Rolled Oat sentenses, and
Saved Searches (Finds)
BEFORE CLEARING ALL DATA
BACK-UP YOUR DATA:
Tap the Version button on main screen
Tap NOTES to display data,
Text is copied to the clipboard for each.
Go to another app that can save text.
Paste (ctrl-V). Your text will appear.
Save your backup data.
Repeat for FINDS and COLORS.
CLEAR ALL
RESTORE YOUR DATA:
Open the app where you stored the data.
Select all text NOTES (ctrl-A)
Copy text to the clipboard (ctrl-C)
Return to Quick Oats
Tap the Version button
Tap VIEW (will change to SAVE)
Tap and hold to show
Paste
Tap Paste to enter NOTE data
Confirm correct data is present
Tap STORE
Repeat for FINDS and COLORS.
