This is the preferred procedure for painting an oil portrait.
These steps are not mandatory but rather serve as a guideline for the process.
The initial details are discussed (often via phone, mail or email) including the approximate size, pose, composition, and the overall look of the painting. A commission agreement is signed and a 50% deposit is collected.
Painting from existing photos is the preferred method. It is beneficial to have multiple photos of the subject when possible.
The client will approve a digital compositional study before work begins on the actual painting—this can be done via mail, email, or in person.
The painting is finished in the studio. The client then has an opportunity request final adjustments to the painting before final sign-off.
Pickup or delivery is scheduled once the client has approved and signed-off on the painting. The balance is due at this time. If shipment is required final payment must be made prior to shipping.
The complete process will ideally take several weeks depending on the complexity of the image. If necessary it may be expedited to meet a specific deadline.

When combining people and animals together in the same portrait...
The first person will be full price. Each additional person and/or animal will add 75% of it's individual full price value. (see above)
Note: Travel expenses, framing and shipping are not included in the estimated quotes above.
Pricing for non-portrait commissions varies by the subject's complexity.
